PROVIDENCE, R.I., April 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
Lynch Corporation (AMEX:LGL) today announced a $6.6 million order for manufacturing equipment from The Kedaung Group, Jakarta, Indonesia, one of the world's largest producers of tableware and other glass products.
Ralph R. Papitto, Lynch Corporation chairman and CEO, said the contract was signed by Lynch Systems, the company's subsidiary in Bainbridge, Ga.
The order calls for delivery of a variety of systems and components over the next 18 months, said Arnold Bowling, Lynch Systems president. The order includes an LP-50 24-38 Double-Gob Press and four TT-50 Twin Table Presses and Blow Machines. The double-gob press forms glass tableware at 130 products- per-minute, Bowling said, the world's fastest glass press for this type of application.
The Kedaung Group has also purchased servo-technology upgrades for three of its installed, single-gob presses, which will accelerate each press's production to one index per 45 seconds with extremely high precision, Bowling said. These upgrade-packages include servo index drive systems and electronic controls. They will enable the installed presses to operate at virtually the same speed as the most modern models, he said.
Also included in the order are component sections for 99 installed H-28 Press & Blow Presses. Thirteen of the sections are new and 86 are rebuilt- exchange sections.
The Kedaung Group, a federation of more than 30 companies founded in 1969, manufactures 1,650 tons of glass tableware (equivalent to 10 million glass tumblers) per day. The company operates approximately 120 manufacturing lines, producing 600,000 tons of glassware per year for markets worldwide.
"This order of the latest high-speed presses and servo-conversions is designed to provide a technical edge for The Kedaung Group, Papitto said. With this equipment, they expect to out-perform and out-produce their competitors who have not yet converted to this new technology.
Lynch Systems, Inc. designs, develops, and manufactures a broad array of capital equipment for the electronic display and consumer tableware industries. This Lynch unit serves manufacturers of cathode ray tube (CRT) displays for televisions and computer monitors and manufacturers of tableware, glassware, and commercial optical glass.
